If you want to detox your skin, it isn’t all about what you put on your skin, but what you put inside your skin. Water is one of the best things for your skin, especially when you add more nutrients to it. This is where infusing water with fruits, vegetables, and herbs comes in. Here are some amazing infused water combinations to help detox, nourish and rejuvenate your skin.


FUN FACT: Flavored Water vs. Infused Water
Do you know the difference between flavored and infused water?

“Flavored water” here refers to water that has been flavored by squeezing in some dashes of lemon or other fruit juice.

For “infused water,” on the other hand, the ingredients added to the water, such as fruits, fruit peel, vegetables, and/or herbs, are left to develop their flavors over the course of several hours. This is called “infused water” since it is a longer infusing process. You aren’t just flavoring your water with these ingredients but adding more nutrients from the produce and herbs.



Orange (Peel) – Blueberry



This first detox water is very simple and made from just two ingredients – oranges and blueberries. Oranges are great because as citrus fruits, they provide extra antioxidants and collagen to help with firming up your skin and helping it to glow. Blueberries, on the other hand, are not only filled with antioxidants, but they are also a superfood. Just add fresh slices of organic oranges and blueberries to the bottom of a pitcher, add ice, then pour in water and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours to allow the vitamins from the fruit to enter the water.

As a variation, you can use dried organic orange peel instead or in addition to the fresh oranges. The pectin contained in orange peel helps with constipation, thus improving your gut health. And this, in turn, will also assist weight loss.



Cucumber – Mint – Lemon



If you have ever been to a spa, you have probably tried cucumber water. This a fresh, crisp detox water that is not only refreshing in flavor but because of the high content in vitamin B, it is amazing for promoting healthy skin. Cucumbers are also rich in antioxidants and thanks to their anti-inflammatory properties help reduce inflammation in the skin.

You can go one step further with the water by adding some other ingredients that are good for your skin, including mint and some lemon. The lemon can be squeezed into the water after the mint and cucumbers have infused, or you can add lemon slices to it.



Raspberry – Basil



The main ingredient in this wonderfully fruity detox water are raspberries which are high in vitamin C. This allows for the natural formation of collagen. Raspberries also have anthocyanins, which are going to reduce any inflammation or redness in your skin. Basil, on the other hand, helps to fight free radicals that can damage your skin. Instead of basil, you can also use mint for some variation.



Rosemary – Lemon – Ginger


Rosemary contains antioxidants that combat premature skin aging by increasing the skin’s elasticity. And its anti-inflammatory properties help to eliminate puffiness. Ginger not only stimulates the immune system but also offers skin protection through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Adding lemon further increases skin health through its high vitamin C content.



Apple – Cinnamon



This is the perfect detox water for the fall season since it has apples and warming cinnamon in it. The high pectin content in the apples helps to prevent constipation and flushes out toxins. Cinnamon, on the other hand, stabilizes blood sugar, boosts your metabolism, and assists in weight loss. Make sure to use food-grade cinnamon sticks for this detox water. And if you consume a lot of cinnamon, Ceylon cinnamon is safer because it contains less coumarin than Cassia cinnamon. Studies have shown that a high intake of coumarin can harm the liver.
